$1.5 Trillion is the United States new defence budget

The United States government has announced the defence budget for 2026 will be $1.5 Trillion.

On the 12/01/2026 the President of the United States Donald J Trump announced on truth social that his government will be increasing the defence budget to $1.5 Trillion.


He later claims in his post that the reason for this increase is for the United States security and it's international interest.


In 2025 the United States was spending over $800 billion annually on it's military but now it's $1.5 Trillion that's over 70% increase in defence. For example most nations increase defence budgets by 1-2% per year.


This announcement comes at the time of increased tensions rising over Greenland and the possibly of military conflict between The Kingdom of Denmark and the United States which could bring in other nations. As reports coming out of France deploying nuclear submarines and Germany deploying 2 frigates to Greenland.
