3 U.S. F-15 Fighter Jets Downed in Kuwait During Middle East Operations

Three U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle fighter aircraft were downed over Kuwait during combat operations connected to the ongoing Middle East conflict, the U.S. military has confirmed.

All six aircrew members safely ejected and have been recovered, according to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

CENTCOM officials described the loss of the jets as the result of a friendly fire incident, with Kuwaiti air defence systems mistakenly engaging the American aircraft.

The incident occurred amid heightened air operations tied to U.S. and allied strikes on Iran and Iranian-linked targets, reflecting the challenges of managing crowded airspace during intense combat operations.

According to CENTCOM, the F-15Es were involved in combat missions supporting what U.S. leaders have described as Operation Epic Fury, a large-scale military campaign against Iranian military infrastructure and leadership elements.

Crew Safety and Recovery

Officials confirmed that all six aircrew personnel ejected from their aircraft and were recovered in stable condition. No fatalities have been reported in association with the fighter jet losses.

Emergency response teams from U.S. and coalition forces were involved in the recovery operation.

President Donald Trump and senior U.S. military leaders acknowledged the downing of the aircraft as part of the broader operational risks inherent in high tempo military operations.

While friendly fire incidents are uncommon, they can occur in complex, fast moving battlespace environments where multiple partner forces are operating.

The fighter jets were operating in an environment where Iran, in retaliation to allied strikes on its territory, has launched missile and drone attacks on U.S. bases and allied infrastructure in the region.

The increases in air and missile engagements have made airspace coordination more challenging, particularly when multiple allied nations and air defence networks are active.

This marks the first confirmed loss of U.S. combat aircraft in the current Middle East conflict, though injuries and equipment losses have been anticipated given the scale of operations in recent days.
